Mechanical Design Engineer III
Your Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will envision, plan, model, draft, evaluate product components and assemblies using FAA, OEM and customer specifications. You will also use analysis techniques and may test preliminary articles to validate adequacy as well as examine field failures, identify root cause/s, and implement design improvements to eliminate the issue/s. Additional responsibilities include:
- Develop well defined ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions (ZACS) statements of work from limited customer provided specification information and knowledge of Airframe and Regulatory requirements.
- Complete feasibility studies to assist with the development of ZACS proposals and statements of work from limited specification information.
- Develop and produce design data required for the proper manufacture, assembly and installation of aircraft modifications and components.
- Develop preliminary engineering analysis necessary to substantiate aircraft modifications
- Review the design data produced by less experienced Design Engineers.
- Coordinate with Certification to ensure design data aligns with the timing and content needs for substantiation of the seating design.
- Must be able to work autonomously on complex design tasks.
Your Skills:
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, detailed knowledge of engineering and design principles, project management and creative problem solving skills and will be mathematically and mechanically minded.
We are looking for reliable candidates with the following:
- Bachelor's Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework.
- Five (5) years industry experience in engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of passenger aircraft seating.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience utilizing Solidworks (or comparable CAD program) with demonstrable proficiency
- Must possess some knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes and related requirements.
- Must possess comprehensive knowledge of standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware and proper application in design.
- Must possess knowledge of engineering principles used in stress analysis, finite element modeling (FEM), 3D-computer modeling, and other analytical substantiation techniques.
- Must possess extensive knowledge of personal computer systems with Microsoft Office
- Must have extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, layouts of passenger accommodations, Component Maintenance Manuals and Service Bulletins.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
